Creative Kate heads for the board

Creative Director, Kate Gorringe, has been chosen by Bristol Media to join its board of directors to represent the design sector and champion women in the creative industry.

Creative Kate heads for the board

The board of the industry-led organisation, which is made up of members from various areas of the creative industry, meets bi-monthly to facilitate collaboration and growth within the region. Kate will be charged with both reporting on her observations within the design sector and supporting the path of women in the creative fields.

Having worked in London for the design and advertising industries for two decades, Kate moved to the South West and joined the agency in 2013. Her career to date has spanned appointments as Head of Art for AGA Advertising (now Gravity Global) and Creative Director roles at brand design agencies Finisterre Design and Philosophy Design. She has undertaken projects and major campaigns for approximately 30 per cent of the FTSE100, as well as for national charities including Cancer Research UK, RSPB, NCT and Citizens Advice.

With such a wealth of experience at the coalface, Kate is embracing the chance to give something back. She comments: “I’m acutely aware that my position as a woman in a creative leadership role is still rare. I’m keen to use my experience and influence to challenge perceptions of what senior leadership should look like, and to raise the aspirations and opportunities for talented women across the creative industries.”

Chris Thurling, Chair of the Bristol Media board says: “We’re thrilled that Kate will be joining the board. Her achievements while working at the top level of the design industry made her an obvious choice for the role and we’re confident that she will inspire many women in the creative arena to aim high in their own careers.”

Kate joins the board this month. Congratulations from us all Kate!
