The cloud was always supposed to offer freedom and flexibility to those who used it – but somewhere along the way, that promise got lost. Today, most cloud companies are more concerned with commercial growth than customer needs. Their technologies and ways of working lock users into rigid, overpriced systems that limit what’s possible.

Civo was built to change this. To radically simplify the cloud and put power back into the hands of users, rivalling established players with a business model created to provide everything customers actually ask for: simplicity, flexibility, transparency and value.

Now the challenger brand needed an identity that could take them from enthusiastic underdog to credible disruptor with global appeal. They needed to show up as a worthy antidote to legacy systems.

Our strategy hinged on this clear contrast: where hyperscalers impose constraints, Civo creates opportunity. Giving rise to their Organising Idea: Built for more.

Built for more control, people, power and possibilities. This new strategic foundation shifted Civo’s positioning from reactive rival to proactive visionary and leader in the sector. It reframed their brand, not around who they were against, but what and who they were for.

Their fresh rebrand reflects the positive change they’re creating across the industry. It offers a brighter vision for the cloud. Something new. Something full of optimism.

At the heart of the design system is a monolithic use of neon green. Distinctive, confident, and unmistakable, it injects a sense of future-focused enthusiasm wherever the brand shows up. For a challenger, this single-minded asset provides the cut-through and cohesion needed to compete with global giants and remain distinctly Civo at all times.

Sharp contemporary serif typography partners with a tone of voice primed to puncture the posture of the cloud’s elite – unapologetically confident and irreverent, creating credibility through witty wordplay and intelligence.

A skeuomorphic illustration style inspired by mid-century Braun-esque mechanical drawings continues to bring this expertise to life, while playful and metaphorical imagery choice adds warmth and emotional edge.

Provocative instead of predictable, human as much as hyper-technical, Civo now projects the seriousness of an enterprise player with the energy of a legitimate disruptor.
