Projects to die for
The range of projects we’ve been involved in has never before been so varied and exciting. We’ve launched a new brand identity for Bristol Bears, created an Insta-style campaign for Bristol Airport, designed and built websites for GradPad and Etex Build to Rent and EcoAct.
We’ve animated Trumpton-style characters for Lightwave, created an aspirational range of bottle designs for Salcombe Brewery, rebranded a music and events venue for St George’s, redesigned beauty products for Naissance, come up with a street-art-inspired new look for GB Basketball and even sent Siniat plasterboard into space!
Awards, awards…
Our awards cabinet has never been so well-stocked thanks to nine wins and shortlistings for clients in all sectors. From the Employer Brand Management Awards for IHG and Principality Building Society, to The Drum Chip Shop Outdoor win through Business Leader nominations in two categories. Our Weather Defence space campaign for Siniat netted us a shortlisting in the International B2B Marketing Awards and a win at the recent B2B Brave Award in New York. And we’re ending the year on a high with a short list for creative strategy for Bristol Bears in next year’s Transform Europe awards.
New faces
We’ve welcomed a few new friends to the team; Adrian Byers is at the helm of the digital team as Digital Strategy Director with brilliant Olie Larner joining as a Front-End Developer more recently. Gareth Atkinson has been a welcome addition to the Strategy team, while Joe Baptiste has proved himself a safe pair of hands in Client Services. Alec Herrington wowed us when he joined as an intern and now has his feet firmly under the table as a Junior Designer, Harrison Blades has brought lots of fun to the finance team and Erykah Savage has just joined us to hold the fort while Office Manager Hayley Devane heads off on maternity leave.
Outreach and events
We’ve hosted some fantastic and well-attended events at our offices, and spoken at many outside of the office too. We kicked off the year in style with our business event in February, where we welcomed current clients, new clients and local business leaders to our new Bristol home. We’ve co-hosted a digital marketing masterclass with our friends from across the ocean, Noble Performs, as well as holding a stonking launch for the GB Basketball brand.
Scattered amongst these we’ve enjoyed welcoming people from across the industry for small, focused events such as the DBA Small Giants and Bristol’s Open Doors. Our senior team have been sharing their knowledge at an array of design, digital and business events from Engine Shed scale-up briefings to Glug to the Bath Digital Festival, while Middleweight Designer Sara Foley has kicked off the Bristol chapter of Ladies, Wine & Design.
Looking ahead
The new year is already looking like it’s going to be pretty special too, with a whole host of exciting new projects in the pipeline, for a dazzling array of clients including the YTL Arena, Truespeed and some soon to be announced.
So all that’s left for me to do is to thank you – our Friends and clients for being part of our 2018. With all the current state of affairs, it’s nice to remember why we are all here, to make our clients businesses better and more fulfilling, but also enjoy the journey together.
I’ll be raising a glass or two to a great year ahead. The team at Mr B & Friends would like to wish you and your families a wonderful New Year and look forward to seeing you in 2019.
