This role is prominent, client-facing and influential in driving forward the ambitions of the agency. Here’s what you’ll bring:
Big brand thinking
You have experience leading teams and working with brand strategists in creating disruptive, distinctive brand identities and campaigns.
You can amply demonstrate how you turn strategy into a singular, compelling and creative story. You have a clear process for taking an idea from a standing start to a polished conclusion, and know how to bring clients along the way
You know people, and how to bring them on side.
You are a persuasive presenter, and know how to build the trust and respect of your clients and colleagues. You know what good looks like, and have strong rationales and structured processes to help sell your ideas.
Managing people is part of your day-to-day, and you can demonstrate how you’ve helped develop the skills and careers of those you’ve coached and mentored.
Your skills are more than guidelines deep
You have a multi-disciplined approach to design and art direction, with strong knowledge of visual, digital, social, motion design, and marketing campaigns. You’re hands on, happy to roll your sleeves up, and will be keen to develop further.
You’re an agency voice
You are an agency spokesperson, with thoughts and ideas you want to share with the wider world. You don’t shy away from writing an article or standing at a podium, and you take a keen interest in making friends amongst clients and the wider creative community.
You understand the commercial imperative
You know how an agency makes money and business works, and are smart at balancing the best creative outcomes with commercial realities.
Your place in the team
You’ll be part of a creative team of 15 full-timers
– a mix of designers, art directors, copywriters, artwork and animation.
As a senior member of the team, you will line manage 3-4 creatives, with responsibility for nurturing their career progression – holding regular 121s, formulating their KPIs and training, and conducting their annual reviews.
You’ll also get involved in agency projects outside of your day job – whether that’s improving our culture and process on the Diversity & Inclusion team, organising company events on the Play Team, or driving strategic agency initiatives forward.
Working at Mr B
Mr B & Friends is a Bristol-based agency with a global perspective – many of our people forged their careers in London and overseas agencies, and our clients range from entrepreneurial start-ups to worldwide brands. We are sector agnostic, working equally across B2B and B2C, but with particular strength in tech, leisure, FS, sport
With a full-time staff of c.30 people, we’re well placed to handle large, complex projects entirely in-house, while still feeling like the energised, supportive team we’ve been from the start.
The ‘Friends’ in our name isn’t spin. We look after our people – many have been with us for five or more years (and there’s loyalty bonuses that go along with that).
If it’s glory you’re after, then we win awards too, including the likes of The Drum and the Transform Awards. But really, it’s a bi-product – our focus is building great relationships with clients who come to us for exciting and effective work.
We also have a great Employee Benefits scheme called The Friends Pact (see our careers page for details). There are an additional 27 employee benefits outside salary, holiday and pension on offer for all the team to enjoy.
If you really want to ‘get’ our culture, then you have to understand our brand positioning – No Added Nonsense. It’s the lens we apply to everything we do. No bullshit. Just great ideas, great relationships and results that speak for themselves.
