As part of its ongoing commitment to employee wellbeing, Mr B & Friends has appointed two mental health first aiders, who will be the first point of contact for any of the Mr B & Friends team in times of crisis.
Last week Luke Piasecki and Sarah Dennis took part in a First Aid training for Mental Health course. The course, run by First Aid Bristol, educates participants on the causes, effects and signs of mental health problems. It also guides companies on how to assess risk, reduce causes of stress and support employees.
With one in four people experiencing a mental health problem at some point in their lifetime, Mr B & Friends aims to provide a working environment where people can thrive. The first aiders will help to maintain a mentally healthy workplace and will influence company policies. This forms part of the Friends Pact, the employee value proposition that was launched in June.
CEO Simon Barbato says, “We are well aware of the added pressures that the pandemic has brought on, and we’re keen that work isn’t an added stress for our team. In creating the mental health first aider roles we hope that we can create a positive environment for the team, as well as supporting anyone who’s having a challenging time.”
