Reflections of an Intern: Volume 3

By Evangelline Grove 1 year ago

Here at Mr B & Friends we’re lucky to have some amazing talent and whilst we’re sorry to ever see it leave, there is certain talent that must fly the beehive and blossom.

Cue our marvellous Interns!

Yes, it’s that time of year again when we reluctantly say goodbye and wish an enormous (Mr B style) good luck to one of our interns heading back to University. Today, we’re saying farewell to our Digital Intern, Aggie!

Ags, take it away!

‘When I first started at Mr B & Friends the people made me feel so welcome and I instantly became part of the team! I was so thankful for my team; sharing their knowledge and introducing me to the world that is the digital workplace *ahem*…funplace.’

How has your internship helped shape your knowledge?

‘The skills I’ve gained over my year placement are certainly substantial for my career. I’ve had the chance to develop CSS3 animations for our clients, such as L&C, Principality Building Society and IP Integration. I had the opportunity to support Mr B developers in website builds and let’s not forget that I became a bit of a HTML email template smartie myself!’

The Funplace

‘Although sitting and staring at the screen all day might not seen like fun, we had several screen breaks throughout the day to recharge, that could get pretty competitive…’

Table Tennis

‘Joining the Mr B Digital family meant entering the ‘World’ Mini Table Tennis tournament. It is a tradition at Mr B Towers to have a game of table tennis everyday and the weekly tournament. It gets VERY serious!’

Planking

‘I introduced this as another screen break activity. Literally planking in and around the office, covering the floors! As random as it is, it improved the form of the table tennis tournaments and made us all that little bit stronger!’

Get Fit At Work

‘Mr B ‘s already opened its doors to the GFAW scheme long before my arrival, but I was eager to join the sessions. I soon learnt that you’d always leave covered in sweat (or tears…we were usually in too much pain to realise).’

‘But, is it worth it? YES! Who doesn’t like to get some medals?’

‘The GFAW challenge was a huge highlight of my time at Mr B & Friends. Mr B and I, known of as the ‘Butt Kickers’, came second in an extremely close (3 seconds difference), brutal, courageous and hilariously entertaining, battle for gold.’

Lessons learnt from the challenge:

‘It may make you feel unwell, some may get pale; it may even make you think of never exercising EVER again, but it is very satisfying in the end!’

The Mr B people

‘Ber’s are one of a kind; great at what they do and a pleasure to work with!’

‘Now it’s time to sign off,

Aggers.’
