TechBenefits is a leading employee benefits provider, offering the latest tech through salary sacrifice.

Founded by Mark Hooper, TechBenefits is a sister company to Farpoint, a Bath based Bose and Accredited Apple reseller. The outline early project plan entailed a refreshed brand, back-end integration with an e-commerce engine and a fully responsive site.

TechBenefits works by employers signing up for the scheme, allowing their employees to browse through an online shop and select what tech they want, including laptops, speakers, headphones and TVs. Employees are able to pay monthly for their tech, saving up to 12% in National Insurance contributions, through salary sacrifice. No waiting. No hassle. No sacrifice. With such a great proposition, we needed to make TechBenefits the go-to technology hub for salary sacrifice savings.

We set to work exploring brand territories and themes for the refreshed brand, working collaboratively with Mark and his team. We settled on ‘Sacrifice nothing’ as our brand idea and proposition. This linked the benefit of a salary sacrifice scheme, but also emphasised the key reason employers and employees would choose TechBenefits – they are tech geeks at heart, who know their stuff – not third party suppliers.

Every day we sacrifice fun for function. Consumed by emails, meetings and to-do lists, we’re left with little time to enjoy the money we’re working so hard to earn and the material pleasures it can bring.

TechBenefits is fixing that. By helping employees to take home exciting technology with no financial hassle and no waiting, we’re bringing the joy to desks of forward-thinking businesses across Britain.

And when people feel like they’re getting more from their company, the company gets more from its people. All at no extra cost.

With just a small monthly salary deduction, employees unbox technology that will make them smile. Capturing this joy in the brand’s look and feel was essential.

We began by developing a refreshed identity, typography and colour palette that was full of life. The identity features a jumping man icon which was evolved from an existing marque. With this as our basis, we developed and shot a range of new product imagery to feature the beautiful technology on offer. Using a combination of these images, lifestyle shots and some playful illustration of the team, we built a brand that was as engaging as TechBenefits’ cutting-edge kit.

Digital Strategy

Creating a brand strategy for online

Seamless use and a world-class online experience was at the heart of our planning. First we researched the tech, ecommerce and employee benefits market, then we met the team, taking learnings from the existing site, and a series of UX workshops. We then built new marketing templates for both employees and employers as well as a completely new responsive shop and product page experience. This along with a ‘tech-tip’ style blog, keeps content fresh, and up-to-date.

Under the bonnet of the website design is where the real magic is. TechBenefits features a bespoke eCommerce platform developed using open source web technologies, capable of handling thousands of products across hundreds of companies. The entire application is securely integrated into a third-party order management system, ensuring administrators can easily manage employee fulfillment whilst giving real-time feedback via a secure online customer portal.
